About the Winery
Miljenko “Mike” Grgich first gained international recognition at the celebrated “Paris Tasting” of 1976, in which the movie Bottle Shock was based upon. Mike’s wine, a 1973 Chateau Montelena Chardonnay, was chosen by the French judges as the finest white wine in the world. After his victory in Paris, Mike sat down with Austin Hills and his sister, Mary Lee Strebl, from the Hills Bros. Coffee family, and on Independence Day 1977, they gave birth to Grgich Hills! Today you can enjoy the tasting room, fine wines and their beautiful grounds in Rutherford, CA (which is in the Napa Valley.)
Tobin’s Review 3 out of 5
Grgich Hills Estate Fume Blanc 2009 is a nice light wine. It has a herbaceous flavor and is both dry and creamy. It’s a nice white wine.
Jeanine’s Review 4 out of 5
Grgich Hills Estate Fume Blanc 2009 has a light fruity aroma. The wine is not too dry and has a nice medium complexion. It’s smooth, not oaky and I pick up nuances of grapefruit on the tongue.
