Chianti wines are very dry red wines that ranges from light-bodied to almost full-bodied, with aromas of cherries and sometimes violets. The flavors can be reminiscent of tart cherries with the best Chianti wines having very concentrated fruit character.

Chianti Riserva is a variety of wine that is aged in French oak and has the potential for a longer life.
