About the Winery:
Masion Louis Jadot was founded in 1859 by Louis Henry Denis Jadot when he purchased a wine negociant house, Lemarie-Foulex. The company would see its strongest international growth in the 1940’s and 1950’s as they began exporting wine to the United Kingdom, the Netherland, US and South American countries. In 1962, Louis Auguste Jadot would die at the age of 23 leaving the company without a successor. It was decided that Jadot’s widow and daughters would retain ownership of the family firm, and André Gagey would take over operations. Gagey would transform the company from a negociant firm into a full-fledged owner-producer firm; using their vineyards for their wines. In 1986 they would contract to operate Domaine du Duc de Magenta, which featured premier cru and Chardonnay grapes. Louis Jadot’s Macon Villages Chardonnay 2020 has a mineral hue with aromas of melon and floral notes. The wine is soft and creamy with flavors of honeydew, a hint of white pepper and citrusy lemon. Overall, it’s okay. I used to like this wine a lot more than I do now.

Louis Jadot’s 2019 Beaujolais has a light plum purple hue with aromas of red berry, grass and a hint of mint. The wine opens with flavors of plum and cherry. Overall it is low in tannins and a pretty solid wine.

Louis Jadot Rosé 2017 has a canary pink hue with light strawberry aromas. The wine has flavors of raspberry and strawberry with a bit tartness. It’s definitely not a sweet rosé.

Louis Jadot’s Macon Villages Chardonnay 2018 has a light honeysuckle hue with aromas of pear. The wine is soft on the tongue and I pickup flavors of pear and peach. Since it isn’t oaked, it’s really light and has fruity flavors at the end.

Louis Jadot Pinot Noir 2009 has a nice light ruby red color that glows. I pick up cherry on the nose with flavors of plum and a raspberry finish.

Louis Jadot Pinot Noir 2009 doesn’t have much of an aroma. It is really light and I don’t taste vanilla which I tend to enjoy in my Pinot Noirs. I taste cherry, but it’s not like a robust California Pinot as it’s not as creamy and a little watery/ light.

Louis Jadot Pouilly Fuisse 2009 has a honey aroma. The wine is smooth, light with hints of honey and chalk. This wine is not crisp which is typical of a lot of European white wines.
